STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Manhattan proved to have more firepower on Wednesday afternoon than Stony Brook in a 17-13 win for the Jaspers.
Both teams started fast and mirrored each other with scoring frames through the first four. Manhattan (16-17) scored one in the top of the first before Stony Brook (15-19) responded with two in the bottom of the frame.
The Jaspers retook the lead with five in the second, with the Seawolves getting three back in their half to make it 6-5 after two. In the fourth, Manhattan pushed three more across the plate to extend its advantage to 9-5. Stony Brook got one back in the bottom half and trailed 9-6 after four.
Manhattan tacked on three more runs in the fifth to take a 12-6 advantage. It was the first inning in which Stony Brook did not answer in the home half.
The eighth inning saw each score five runs, and both used four hits to get their five runs across. With the score 17-11, Stony Brook scored twice in the ninth to get to the final scoreline of 17-13.
Seven of the nine starters for Manhattan scored at least once.
Pete Durocher scored a team-best four times while going 2-for-3 and drawing three of the 15 walks issued to Manhattan hitters.
David Bermudez finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI. All four of Bermudez's RBI came on two two-run homers, coming in the second and eighth innings.

Jack Lynch, and
Jacob Radziewicz had multi-RBI games on Wednesday. Bermudez now has nine on the season, and Lynch owns eight. It was the first such game of the season for Radziewicz.
One of four Jaspers pitchers,
Jack Mahoney, picked up the winning after tossing four innings of relief and only allowing one run. Stony Brook used nine pitchers, with none throwing more than two innings.
The Jaspers return to action on Friday at Rider for the first of a three-game series with the Broncs. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ESPN3.
