TEANECK, N.J. – Manhattan won the weekend series at Fairleigh Dickinson with a 9-5 win in Sunday's series finale.
David Bermudez and
Pete Durocher had three RBI each as Manhattan (3-7) erased a 4-0 Fairleigh Dickinson (2-9) first-inning lead with three runs in the second, third, and seventh innings.
Durocher opened the scoring for the Jaspers when he doubled home
Matt Padre in the top of the second. After a groundout,
Jacob Radziewicz delivered a two-out, two-RBI single to right to get the Jaspers within one, 4-3.
Bermudez deposited the first of his two homers on the day to tie the game at four in the top of the third. Later in the inning, Durocher drove in his final two RBI of the afternoon with another two-out RBI hit for the Jaspers to make it 6-4.
The Knights got one back in the fifth before the Jaspers pushed across three in the seventh.
Frankie Marinelli worked a two-out walk to bring Bermudez back to the plate. The Manhattan shortstop blasted his second homer to make it 8-5 Jaspers.
Jack Lynch added more insurance with an RBI single to left.
Three of the four first-inning runs for Fairleigh Dickinson came on a home run from Tommy Verga.
Justin Solimine (1-1) picked up the win for the Jaspers by allowing one run over 3.1 innings of relief.
Manhattan is back in action on Tuesday at Hofstra before visiting St. John's for a weekend series.
