TEANECK, N.J. – Manhattan led 4-0 after three innings before falling 6-4 at Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday in the first of three games against the Knights this weekend.
Manhattan (1-7) scored twice in the second and two more in the third.
Jack Lynch grounded into a fielder's choice to plate
Matt Padre to open the scoring.
Alfredo Delgado followed with a double to score
Pete Durocher from third. It was the first RBI of the season for Delgado.
Another fielder's choice scored the third Jasper run.
Harrison Treble brought in
Frankie Marinelli, who was hit by a pitch to start the third. Padre brought in
David Bermudez later in the inning. Bermudez finished the afternoon 4-for-5 with the run scored. The graduate student is hitting a team-leading .469.
Fairleigh Dickinson (2-7) got one back in the bottom of the fourth before making it a 4-3 three game with a pair of runs in the fifth. Justin Sierra brought in two Knights with a single to right.
A three-run bottom of the seventh gave the Knights the lead. Tommy Verga connected on a three-run homer off Justin Solmine.
Manhattan had two runners on in the top of the eighth with two away. Delgado then struck out, looking to end the threat.
Will Hesslink started for the Jaspers and went six innings. The lefty allowed five runs and struck out a pair.
On Saturday, the two sides return to the diamond for game two of the series. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
