WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. –
Meghan Rodino scored with 16 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to give Manhattan an 11-10 win at Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
Rodino's goal in overtime was the senior's second of the game and 26
th of the season.
Julianna Iovine supplied the assist on the game-winning goal.
Rodino's goal came on Manhattan's only shot in either overtime period.
Manhattan (7-4, 1-1 MAAC) took a 9-8 lead and a 10-9 lead in the fourth quarter before Monmouth (5-6, 0-2 MAAC) tied the game on both occasions. Monmouth's Cassidy Orban sent the game into overtime when she scored with 1:24 to play in regulation.
There were four ties and three lead changes in the fourth, as neither team led by more than a goal over the final 15 minutes.
Grace Lipponer scored the first goal of the day for the Jaspers and later tied the game at four in the second on her 38
th goal of the season. Lipponer's first goal of the game was her 100
th in her career. The senior is the eighth player in program history to reach the 100 goal mark.
Caroline D'Agostino's scored her second goal of the season, with 3:09 remaining in the second quarter. Her goal would give the Jaspers their first lead in the game with a 5-4 edge.
Monmouth scored three in a row to retake the lead 7-5 before
Jillian Reiner scored for Manhattan down a man to make it 7-6 heading into the fourth.
Iovine added a pair of goals to her overtime assist.
Annie Freshour also had three points for the Jaspers. Iovine, Lipponer, and Rodino each had two goals. Eight different Jaspers had at least a point en route to the Jasper victory.
Manhattan returns to action next Wednesday when the Jaspers host Marist at Gaelic Park at 7 p.m.
