NEW YORK – Manhattan fell behind early to Columbia in an 14-5 loss on Wednesday.
Columbia (6-10) scored seven runs in the first and added two more in the second to take a 9-0 lead.
Manhattan (8-10) got on the board in the top of the fourth.
Pete Durocher singled through the left side to score
Matt Padre. Durocher's RBI was the 15
th of the season for the Jaspers' outfielder.
David Bermudez hit his fifth homer of the season in the top of the fifth. The shortstop brought in
Frankie Marinelli to get the Jaspers to within seven, 10-3.
After Columbia added three more runs, the Jaspers scored twice in the seventh.
Zahan Meyer doubled down the left-field line.
Harrison Treble then singled to bring in Meyer.
Treble and Durocher were the lone Jaspers with multiple hits.
The Jaspers return to the diamond this weekend with the opening series of MAAC against Canisius at Clover Stadium in Pomona, N.Y.
