RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan started fast en route to a 65-45 win over Saint Peter's at home on Thursday night. The win moves the Jaspers to 8-0 at home and the only MAAC team perfect on its home floor.
The win is also the fourth in a row for Manhattan (13-8, 8-4 MAAC).
Manhattan scored the first 12 points of the game and led 14-4 after the first quarter to set up the Jaspers. Saint Peter's (8-11, 5-5) could not recover after the slow start. The Peacocks went 2-19 from the field and 0-5 from 3-point range in the opening quarter.
The Jaspers started the second quarter on a 9-3 run to make it 23-7.
Dee Dee Davis had five of the night while the Jaspers went 4-6 from the floor over the three-minute stretch. Manhattan's lead would grow to 18 at the half, 39-21, after scoring eight of the final 11 of the frame. Davis supplied seven, including a three-pointer as the shot clock was expiring with 10 seconds to play.
Defensively, the Jaspers limited the Peacocks to four points over the first six-plus minutes of the third quarter.
Jenna Jordan had scored five of her seven during the stretch as the Jaspers would by 25, 50-25.
The Jaspers lead would grow to as many as 30 in the fourth quarter. The Peacocks closed the game on a 13-3 run to get it to the final margin of 20.
Davis finished with a game-high 21 points.
Courtney Warley supplied her ninth double season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan added a game-high 12 rebounds to her seven points.
Bella Nascimento finished in double figures too with 10 points.
Manhattan held Saint Peter's to 27-percent shooting and 12.5-percent 3-point range. The Jaspers got to the free-throw 24 times compared to the Peacocks' 11. Manhattan converted a season-best 19 free throws.
Kourtney Crane had 12 points to lead Saint Peter's.
