RIVERDALE, N.Y. – A 12-goal second half lifted Manhattan past VMI, 14-10, in the home opener for the Jaspers on Wednesday.
Manhattan (1-1) scored five in the third and seven in the fourth quarter to come back against VMI (0-2).

Sean MacKinney, and
Liam Walshe had five points for the Jaspers.
The Keydets led 4-2 at the half, and the two sides alternated goals to start the third quarter.
Jake Nicolosi tied the game five with a goal with 5:13 to play in the quarter. That came less than 30 seconds after Gucwa tallied his second of the game.
The Jaspers' four straight goals spanning the third and fourth quarters built the home side a 10-7 advantage. VMI would respond with a three-goal run of its own over five minutes to tie the game at 10 on a goal from Josh Bass.
Bass' tally would be the final one for the Keydets. Manhattan scored the last four of the game over five-plus minutes to secure the win. MacKinney started the scoring run with his third of the day.
Gucwa had four goals and an assist. The junior has scored four goals in both games this season. MacKinney added two assists with his hat trick, while Walshe had two goals and three assists. Walshe scored the first goal for the Jaspers and assisted on the second.
Brenden Krebs stopped seven shots to earn the win for the Jaspers.
Up next for Manhattan is a neutral site contest against Navy. The Jaspers and Midshipmen will play at Hofstra on Sunday at noon.
