RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan men's basketball returns to Draddy Gymnasium on Friday night and welcomes Mount St. Vincent for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Jaspers and Dolphins will battle on ESPN3.
Manhattan (0-2) is coming off a three-point loss at Fairleigh Dickinson (2-1) on Sunday, 77-74. Five Jaspers scored in double figures, paced by
Josh Roberts' 17 points and nine rebounds.
Elijah Buchanan,
Ant Nelson,
Nick Brennen, and
Marques Watson were also in double figures. It was the second straight game that the Jaspers shot a higher percentage from the field than their opposition. The game on Sunday was tight throughout, with neither team leading by more than three possessions. There were also 15 lead changes and seven ties.
Mount St. Vincent (0-2) plays at Hunter College on Thursday night before coming to Draddy. The Dolphins have lost to Centenary (N.J.) and NYU to start the year and played an exhibition against LIU. Dan Porcic is averaging 12 points per game through two games to lead the Dolphins. Aaron Darab is also in double figures on average at 10 points per game. Mount St. Vincent has struggled from 3-point range early on, connecting on only 25-percent of its attempts.
Buchanan is averaging 16 points per game for the Jaspers, which ranks the fifth-year T7 in the MAAC in the young season. Roberts is 10
th in the league in scoring at 15.5 per game.
Roberts and Buchanan are inside the top 10 in rebounding in the MAAC too. Roberts is fourth (8.5), and Buchanan is 10
th (7.0).
After posting eight assists on Sunday, Nelson is now ranked T4 in the MAAC in assists per game (5.0).
Friday is the last game stateside for the Jaspers before they embark for the 2022 London Basketball Classic next week when they play Northeastern on Thursday and either Army or Princeton on Saturday.
