RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Following a 1-0-1 week to open MAAC play, the Manhattan men's soccer club prepares for another pair of MAAC contests this week.
The week opens with the club's MAAC home opener with a visit from the Stags of Fairfield before making the short trip to New Rochelle for a matchup with the Iona Gaels on Saturday.
The Jaspers had a strong opening week of MAAC play, garnering four of the possible six points they could have earned, beating Rider 3-0 and dueling with Siena to a scoreless draw. A pair of performances that currently has the Green and White tied for second in the conference.
Fairfield comes to Gaelic Park owning an even 5-5 record, 1-1 in conference matches. The team topped the Mount 1-0 but fell to Quinnipiac 3-2. The last time the Stags and the Jaspers shared the pitch resulted in a 2-1 win for the Stags in Fairfield. 2019 was the last year the Stags made the trip to Riverdale and the Jaspers came away with a 3-0 victory.
As for the Gaels, they sit at 2-3-1, and a mark of 1-0 in MAAC play. The MAAC win by the way of a 1-0 win over Marist. The Jaspers last faced off with the Gaels in was Riverdale and ended with a 1-1 draw. This will be the Jaspers first trip to New Rochelle since the 2019 season.
A spread offensive attack has gotten the Jaspers to where they are right now. Currently,
Johan Velez paces the Green and White in the goal category with four.
Ronaldo Da Silva is just behind Velez, with three goals to his name following a two-goal performance against Rider last week, which earned him Wilson Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Danny DiMarco has been as reliable as ever for the Jaspers in the net, posting three consecutive shutouts, and a league-leading four on the year, while sporting a GAA of .462.
