RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan women's soccer team came back to tie Canisius 1-1 on Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park.
Saturday was also senior day for the Jaspers. Before the match, seniors

Madison Mulkigian, and
Emily Scarda were honored for their contributions to the program.
Both Manhattan (3-7-4, 1-5-3 MAAC) and Canisius (5-4-8, 3-2-5) scored in the opening 45 minutes.
The Golden Griffins got on the board first through Mia Iacona in the 12
th minute. Iacona got control of the ball in the box and put a shot past Johnstone to the near right post. It was the second straight game in which Iacona scored.
Less than 15 minutes later, the Jaspers got back level when
Ianah Mackey got on the end of a
Julia Nicholas cross inside the six-yard box and flicked it home. The goal was Mackey's second of the season. Nicholas' assist was her third of the year, which came from the left wing and found its way to Mackey.
"Another hard-fought game," said head coach
Brendan Lawler. I am very proud of our effort today to come back from a goal down and the positive contribution from our seniors."
The Jasper defense held firm in the second half and kept the Golden Griffins at bay. The visitors had 10 shots after halftime. Manhattan blocked three of those chances and only allowed two made it on goal.
Johnstone, who was making her second career start, made four stops for Manhattan.
Manhattan returns to Gaelic Park on Wednesday, Oct. 26, against Saint Peter's at 7 p.m. It is the regular-season finale for the Jaspers.
