RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The first-place Manhattan men's soccer club will look to fend off the competition gunning for them this week, hosting Quinnipiac in a match with massive implications on the standings, then heading to Canisius on Saturday.
The Green and White have amassed 13 points thus far while owning a record of 6-4-3. The Bobcats will come to Gaelic Park with 10 points and a record of 8-3-2. Canisius starts the week with a record of 1-6-6 and is scheduled to take on Marist on Wednesday prior to hosting the Jaspers on Saturday.
The Jaspers have been red-hot in MAAC play, scoring 12 goals in the team's six MAAC matches. The team made a statement last Wednesday against the Mount, posting a 5-0 win. That was followed up by a 2-1 victory against the defending champions, Marist on Saturday thanks to a goal in the 73rd minute off the foot of
Anthony Denis.
Johan Velez and
Henry Hamilton pace the Jaspers offensive attack, each netting five goals apiece thus far.
Gunnar Studenhofft has been effective all year as well, netting four goals and assisting another three, giving him 11 points on the year. Him and Velez pace the team with 11 points.
Danny DiMarco has been a steady presence in net for Manhattan. Starting all six conference matches in the net and only letting three goals by him, which has earned him a GAA of .51, which leads all conference goalkeepers.
