EMMITSBURG, Md. –
Nicolette Caneda gave Manhattan the first-half lead; however, Mount St. Mary's scored with less than two minutes remaining to tie the game and have each team earn a point on Wednesday.
Caneda's first of the year came in the 40
th minute on a shot from outside the 18-yard box and went in the upper right corner.
Amrit Arora supplied the assist. It was Arora's first point of the season.
Mount St. Mary's (2-4-7, 1-3-3 MAAC) remains one point ahead of Manhattan (3-5-3, 1-3-2) in the MAAC standings with six points. The Mountaineers are in a three-way tie for sixth, the final spot in the MAAC Championship.
The tying goal for the Mountaineers came from Kalli Bell in the 89
th minute. Amani Green supplied the assist. Like Caneda, Bell's goal came from outside the 18-yard box.
Manhattan had one shot on goal after taking the 1-0 lead.
Caitlin Alcoba tested Arden Lembryk in goal with a shot low to the right, and Lembryk made the stop. Alex Martinez and Bell had shots on goal in the second half for Mount St. Mary's. Bell's first shot on goal came less than three before she found the back of the net.
Kim Mains made four stops in goal for the Jaspers. Lembryk stopped two shots for the Mountaineers.
Marist is the next opponent for Manhattan. The Jaspers visit the Red Foxes on Saturday at 7 p.m.
