FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams took on Fairfield on Friday. The men fell to the Stags 219-33 and the women lost 207-40.
The lone for Manhattan on Friday came from
Mackenzie Tuttle in the 200m freestyle. The junior finished in 2:12.35 to beat Erin Hoyland of Fairfield to the wall by six-tenths of a second. Tuttle swam the final 50m in 33.60 compared to Hoyland's 34.29.
Tuttle finished second in the 100m freestyle. Lily Barker clipped Tuttle by four-tenths with a 1:01.63. Barker was four-tenths quicker over the first 50m. Tuttle was third in the 100m butterfly with a 1:09.38, which was just under three seconds off the winning time.
Kayla Guilfoil was second in the 200m backstroke for the Jaspers. The sophomore finished in 2:27.91 to secure four points.
On the men's side,
Joe Brennan touched the wall in 1:05.89 to claim second in the 100m breaststroke. The freshman lost out to Fairfield senior Peter Sloan by seven hundredths.
Jack Martin was third in the 100m butterfly. The sophomore stopped the clock in 1:02.8, which was less than a second off the winning time from Chris Chumbley.
The Jaspers return to the water on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Iona in the last meet for the MAAC Championships.
