Manhattan Earns 2-2 Draw At Columbia

Manhattan battled Columbia to a 2-2 draw at the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.

* The Jaspers are now 1-2-1, while the Lions are 1-1-1.

* Manhattan struck first in the 41st minute thanks to an impressive counterattack.

* Freshman Yasin Choukri fed senior James Cotter, who found a cutting Johan Velez on the left side, and the junior beat the keeper to the far post.

* Columbia would quickly net the an equalizer in the 43rd with a Will Todd score.

* After halftime, Velez had a pair of opportunities to reclaim the lead for the Jaspers, before the Lions took their first lead of the night in the 79th minute thanks to a Bryan Cosman goal.

* Manhattan, like Columbia in the first half, quickly tied the match up, as fifth-year senior Oswald Annang scored his second goal of the year off a pass from freshman Ronan O'Brien in the 82nd minute.

* Freshman Harry Bark almost found the back of the net in the 89th minute, but his match-winning attempt was turned away.

* In the first overtime, Columbia had a pair of opportunities to end the match, before sophomore Danny DiMarco kept it tied thanks to a pair impressive saves in the second overtime.

* Velez made a late attempt to win it in the 110th minute, but his shot with one second remaining went wide.

* Velez's strike was his second goal in as many matches, while Annang's notched his fourth career score.

* Cotter's assist was the fourth of his career, while O'Brien collected his second helper of the season and Choukri his first collegiate assist.

* DiMarco made six saves in moving to 1-1-1.

* Columbia posted advantages in shots (17-16) and shots on goal (8-5), with Manhattan holding a slight edge in corner kicks (3-2).

* The Jaspers will next host Fordham in the annual 'Battle of the Bronx' on Tuesday, September 14 at 3:00 pm
