Manhattan Concludes Day One Of MAACs

Results

Lawrenceville, NJ - The Manhattan Women's Track and Field Team is fourth with 29 points after day one of the MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex, while the men are sixth with 11 points.

* Sophomore Andria Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) placed second in the 10000 meters with a time of 36:08.07 in her first time competing in the event as a Jasper.

* Junior Lilly Brown (Ringwood, NJ / Lakeland Regional) soared a personal-best 3.40 meters in tying for second place in the pole vault.

* In the hammer throw, junior Nina Bjorkman (Vasteras, Sweden / Widenska Idrottsgymnasium) registered a season-best toss of 51.81 meters in placing second.

* Elsewhere on the track, sophomore Nicola Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) took third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best mark of 11:08.24.

* Senior Pelle Nogueira (Glen Ridge, NJ / TCNJ) ran a season-best 30:19.21 in placing third in the 10000 meters.

* In the hammer throw, freshman Joseph Pelio (Miller Place, NY / St. Anthony's) recorded a career-best throw of 47.37 meters in taking fourth.

* Junior Marc Carrera (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) clocked a 4:00.83 in the prelims of the 1500 meters, while classmate Ryan Tierney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) registered a mark of 4:12.89 as each runner qualified for the finals.

* In the 400 meters, senior Alexander (A.J.) Moore (Colonia, NJ / John F. Kennedy) crossed the line with a season-best mark of 50.21 in qualifying for Sunday's final.

* On the women's side, classmate Zarah Harris (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central) also qualified for the tomorrow's final in the 400 meters with a season-best mark of 59.58. 

* Tomorrow's action starts at 10:00 am with the women's shot put and triple jump.
