Manhattan Concludes Series With Fairfield

Manhattan dropped a pair of games to Fairfield by scores of 19-9 and 8-4.

The Stags improve to 26-0, while the Jaspers fall to 6-16.

Game Two
Fairfield rallied for an 8-4 win over Manhattan in the nightcap.

The Jaspers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, as junior Sam Franco (Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) led off with a single, before classmate Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY / Suffern) followed with a double. Graduate student Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) then plated Franco with a RBI ground out to open the scoring.

Fairfield tied it up at 1-1 in the sixth, before adding five runs in the top of the seventh in taking a 6-1 lead.

Franco got one run back in the bottom part of the frame with a solo home run, before the Stags hit a two-run shot in the top of the ninth.

Manhattan plated two more runs in the bottom of the ninth, but was unable to get any closer.

Franco finished up 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and three runs, while Cimillo and Padre each had two hits.

Sophomore RHP Kyle Lesler (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) was impressive on the mound, striking out three while yielding one run on five hits and a walk over 5.0 innings.

Game One
Fairfield jumped out to a 12-0 lead en route to posting a 19-9 victory over Manhattan.

Senior Will Trochiano (Morganville, NJ / Marlboro) was 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run, while Barrella was 3-for-3 with two runs, a RBI and a walk. Cimillo also crushed a three-run homer to highlight the top offensive performers for the Jaspers.

Sophomore Colin McGrath (Quincy, MA / Catholic Memorial) was solid in relief, firing 2.0 scoreless innings in his collegiate debut.

Manhattan will play at Quinnipiac on Saturday, May 1 at 12:00 pm.
