Buffalo, NY - Canisius took both ends of a doubleheader from Manhattan by scores of 10-3 and 7-2 at the Demske Sports Complex.
The Jaspers are now 3-9, while the Golden Griffins are 6-6.
Game Two
* Canisius posted a 7-2 win over Manhattan in the nightcap.
* The Jaspers struck for the game's first run in the second inning. Freshman
Trevor Santos (Nutley, NJ / Nutley) singled with one out, before stealing second and scored on senior
Will Trochiano's (Morganville, NJ / Marlboro) RBI single to center field.
* Unfortunately, the Golden Griffins would answer with two runs, before adding four in the sixth and one in the seventh.
* Freshman
Zahan Meyer (Mount Laurel, NJ / Lenape) plated junior
Lewi Clarke (Saratoga Springs, NY / Saratoga Springs) in the ninth inning with a RBI single to cap the scoring.
* Santos was 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and a run to pace the offense.
* Freshman RHP
Connor O'Neill (Fairfield, CT / Fairfield Ludlowe) was solid in relief, yielding one run with three strikeouts over 2.2 innings.
Game One
* Canisius took game one by a 10-3 count over Manhattan.
* The Golden Griffins opened the scoring with a pair of first-inning runs, before the Jaspers got one back in the third.
* Senior
Will Trochiano (Morganville, NJ / Marlboro) was plunked, moved to second on a
Jonathan Barditch (Jr., Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit Prep) sacrifice and to third on a wild pitch, before scoring on junior
Sam Franco's (Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) sacrifice fly.
* The Jaspers tied it up at 2-2 in the top of the fifth when senior
Jake Knop (Portland, ME / Portland) crushed his second home run of the week, a one-out solo home run to left field.
* Canisius immediately answered with four runs in extending its advantage out to 6-2.
* Manhattan would get a run back in the top of the sixth when senior
Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) scored on a RBI single off the bat of
Pete Durocher (So., Emerson, NJ / Emerson Junior-Senior).
* Unfortunately, the Golden Griffins plated four more runs in the bottom part of the frame in providing the final 10-3 score.
* Franco was 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a stolen base to lead a seven-hit Jasper offense.
* The teams will conclude their series tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
