Box Score (PDF) | Highlights

New Rochelle, NY -
Junior Elijah Buchanan (Bronx, NY / Woodstock Academy (CT)) scored nine of his career-high 26 points over the final six-plus minutes to lead Manhattan to a decisive 77-70 win over Iona at the Hynes Center.

With the score knotted at 64-64 with 6:42 to play, Buchanan drilled a pair of free throws, before hitting a driving layup on the following possession to give the Jaspers a four-point cushion.

Iona would continue to battle to fight and trailed by two late, before Buchanan put the nail in the coffin with a step-back three pointer that increased the lead to 75-70 with 1:30 to play.

Buchanan also grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in posting his first career double-double, while also handing out a career-best seven assists.

Junior Warren Williams (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Benedict's Prep (NJ)) also notched a double-double, scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds in registering his MAAC-best fifth double-double. Classmate Ant Nelson (New York, NY / Seton Hall) matched Williams with 12 points, and junior Samir Stewart (Fort Lauderdale, FL / American Heritage) added 11 to round out the double-figure scorers for Manhattan.

The Jaspers shot 44.2 percent (23-of-52) from the floor, including a season-high 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from deep, while making good on 71.9 percent (23-of-32) from the line.

Notes
* Buchanan and Williams became the first set of Manhattan teammates to register double-doubles since a 51-47 win at Siena on February 2, 2018.
* Buchanan's 13 rebounds are the most by a Jasper since Pauly Paulicap snared 13 in a 93-76 win over Monmouth on February 10, 2018.
* The meeting was the 100th all-time match-up between the teams.

* With the win, Manhattan snapped an eight-game losing streak at the Hynes Center that dated back to the 2011-12 season.

* The Jaspers posted a 34-31 edge on the glass, including a 15-11 mark on the offensive end that led to a 23-10 advantage in second-chance points.

* Manhattan shot 50.0 percent (15-of-30) in the opening stanza, including a blistering 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from long range, en route to scoring a season-high 47 first-half points.
* The Jaspers were able to build up a 10-point advantage at the break, thanks to scoring seven-straight on a pair of occasions.

* Manhattan used a 9-0 spurt that bridged the two halves in pushing its lead to a game-high 15 at 52-37 with 18:38 to play following a Nelson triple.
* Iona fought back to take a 64-62 lead with just over eight minutes remaining, before junior Samba Diallo (Rufisque, Senegal / UMass) hit a pair of free throws to spark a game-changing 6-0 run that gave the Jaspers what would prove to be an insurmountable four-point advantage with 6:05 to play.

* Fueled by that spurt, the Jaspers ended the game on a 15-6 run.
* Diallo narrowly missed double-figures in scoring, finishing with nine points.
* Manhattan is now 6-5 in games decided by 10 points or less.

* Nelson has scored in double-figures a team-best 12 times in 15 games.
* Freshman Amir Britt (Edison, NJ / Westtown School (PA)) made his collegiate debut, earning a steal over four minutes of action.

* Isaiah Ross scored 19 points with five rebounds and three steals to pace Iona.
