Manhattan Overpowers Dartmouth in Fourth Quarter

Hanover, NH – The Jaspers fourth quarter push propelled Manhattan College to earn the victory against Dartmouth on the road. Manhattan College scored 18 of its 56 points to win the contests with a 56-44 spread. The Jaspers improve their record to 5-4 overall heading into league play.
 
In the second outing against the Big Green since December of 2019, the Jaspers would strike first, with the first quarter finishing with a tie score at 15 each. Junior guard and captain Dee Dee Davis (Bronx, NY) would be the first to score and provide the leadership needed for Manhattan during the game.
 
The Jaspers would find their stride in the second quarter, keeping the Big Green scoreless for a solid six minutes and go on a 13-2 run to close the half. Heading into halftime, Manhattan would lead Dartmouth 30-20, with their largest lead of the twenty minute frame.
 
In the second half of the game, Dartmouth would chip away at Manhattan's lead shooting 45.5%. By the end of the third the Big Green would be within three at 38-35, with the Jaspers leading. In the fourth quarter, the Jaspers came out strong and would go on to score their largest offensive amount of all four quarters. En route to the Jaspers victory, the Manhattan defense would hold Dartmouth to a mere nine points in the last quarter. Manhattan would cause 25 turnovers and capitalize with 17 points off the Dartmouth errors.
 
Junior forward Jenna Jordan (Valley Cottage, NY) would hit Manhattan milestones of a career-high 12 points and season high 11 rebounds. She would add a steal and assist each to her portfolio for the day.
 
Manhattan utilized its size, scoring 28 points in the paint and the Jaspers would out-rebound the Big Green collecting 37 boards, 23 on the defensive end.
 
Davis would finish the game with 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Ten of her total points would come in the fourth quarter.
 
Dartmouth was led by senior guard Katie Douglas with 14 points, two rebounds and a steal.
 
Manhattan College will travel to Western New York to take on Niagara University on Sunday, December 19 at 2:00 p.m. to open conference play.
