Riverdale, NY – The Manhattan Women's Lacrosse team opens up is 24
th Division I season at home against La Salle on Saturday, February 8
th at Noon at Gaelic Park in the Bronx.
SERIES HISTORY
- This is the fourth consecutive season as well as the fourth all-time meeting between the Jaspers and the Explorers.
- La Salle is 2-1 in the series against Manhattan, but the Jaspers won last season's matchup, a 9-4 victory in Philadelphia. Sophomore Grace Lipponer and junior Alaina Burgess each notched a goal for the Jaspers
OPENING DAY
- Manhattan is looking for the first win in their home opener since 2016, when the Jaspers defeated UMass-Lowell in overtime 12-11.
- This is Manhattan's earliest starting date for the regular season in program history. The previous earliest starting day of the season for Manhattan was February 10th, 2013 when the Jaspers fell to Rutgers in New Jersey.
NEW BEGINNINGS
- First year head coach Jenna Dingler takes over the reins of the program, after guiding Division II Caldwell for the past two seasons.
- Dingler is a graduate of Lock Haven University, where she was named an IWLCA All-American and appeared in two national titles games, amassing over 100 points in her career.
CUPBOARD IS NOT EMPTY
- Jaspers return 17 letterwinners and seven starters from the 2019 squad.
- Burgess and Lipponer lead the way on the offensive side of the ball for Manhattan, responsible for 49 goals and 13 assists in 2019.
- Manhattan returns the core of its defensive unit in senior Amanda Silvestri, senior Caileigh Lampersberger, senior Susan Morad and senior Hailey Siemek.
- The Jaspers also brought in 10 newcomers for the 2020 season.
