Manhattan To Host Bryant On Saturday

 Manhattan (2-1) will be in search of its third-straight win, when the Jaspers host Bryant (1-3) on Saturday, February 29 at 12:00 pm.

Last Time Out
* Manhattan registered a dominating 16-5 win over Wagner with senior Luke Hanson leading the way with a MAAC-record nine assists and one goal.


* Senior Trevor Pelletier notched a career-high four goals and five points, while junior Jake Nicolosi also registered a career-best three goals. 
* Junior Brendan Krebs was outstanding in net, making 14 saves while posting a .737 save percentage.
* The Jaspers were a perfect 19-for-19 in clear attempts.

* Hanson became the 10th member of the Jasper 100-point club, and now has 102 points.

* Thanks to his nine assists, Hanson now ranks fourth in the all-time Manhattan annals with 61 assists.



If You're Not First, You're Last
* Manhattan led the nation in man-down defense at 83.3 percent (25-of-30) for the second-straight year in 2019.
* All told, over the last three years the Jaspers have killed off 81.6 percent (62-of-76) of penalties.
* This season, Manhattan has posted a 75.0 percent (6-of-8) success rate with its man-down defense. 

Last Meeting With Bryant
* Manhattan posted a thrilling 9-8 win over Bryant a year ago, rallying from a two-goal, fourth-quarter deficit.
* Junior Sean MacKinney delivered the game-winning score off a Hanson feed.
* After going in front, the defense yielded just one shot attempt and forcing five turnovers over the final five-plus minutes to clinch the win.
* Senior Brandon Grinnell scored two goals with two assists, while Hanson had a goal and four assists to pace the Jasper offense.

Manhattan-Bryant History
* The Bulldogs lead the all-time series by a 3-1 count, and have posted a 56-29 advantage in scoring during that time.
* Grinnell has five goals and two assists in his career against Bryant, while Hanson has four goals and five assists with Pelletier notching four goals and an assist.

Scouting Bryant
* The Bulldogs have defeated Boston U, and dropped close decisions to Bucknell and Dartmouth.
* Marc O'Rourke (10 goals, 6 assists) and Jake Buonaiuto (12 goals, 3 assists) pace the Bryant attack.
* Luke Caracciolo is averaging 9.5 saves per game in net.

Manhattan-VMI Recap
* Fueled by six goals and an assist from freshman Kyle Gucwa, the Jaspers posted a 10-8 win over VMI last Saturday.
* Sophomore Liam Walshe added a goal and an assist, while Grinnell, MacKinney and junior Justin Malpica all scored.
* Senior Kelson Borisenko also delivered an assist to cap the scoring.
* Krebs turned away 14 shots in leading Manhattan to its third-straight home-opening win.

Gucwa Highlights
* Gucwa earned MAAC Player and Rookie of the Week honors for his big performance against VMI.

* He was also named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division I Warrior and New Balance Team of the Week.
* Gucwa has a team-leading seven goals and is tied with Hanson for the team-lead with 10 points.

Krebs Highlights
* Krebs also earned his second career MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

* The 2019 All-MAAC First Team performer registered three saves in the first, second and fourth quarters, while turning away five shots in the third.
* On the year, he has a 7.33 GAA with a .627 save percentage and is averaging 12.3 saves per game.

Two For The Price Of One
* Gucwa's first two collegiate goals came on the same man-up penalty, after VMI was whistled for a non-releaseable one-minute infraction.

The Faceoff X
* Freshman Kyle Kobylinski was 6-for-10 from the Faceoff X, while senior Nick Galioto was 6-for-11 against VMI, with the pair combining for five ground balls.

The Roster
* The Jaspers boast a roster of 40 student-athletes, which includes 26 returning letterwinners and eight starters from last year's squad.
* Head Coach Drew Kelleher will welcome 14 student-athletes into the program in 2020. 

The Schedule
* Manhattan will play 14 games in 2020, including five at Gaelic Park.
* The Jaspers will host VMI, Bryant, Detroit Mercy, Monmouth and Siena.

Krebs Earns First Team All-MAAC Honors
* Krebs had a breakout campaign in 2019, winning six games, while ranking sixth nationally with a MAAC-leading .569 save percentage en route to earning First Team All-MAAC accolades.
* He also was 10th in the nation and second in the league with 13.29 saves per game, and third in the MAAC and 17th in the NCAA ranks with a 10.14 GAA.
* Krebs registered double-figures in saves on 12 occasions, including all eight MAAC games.

Lending A Helping Hand
* Senior Luke Hanson ranked second in the MAAC with 1.71 assists per game, in 2019 while his 25 helpers were also the second-best single-season total in Manhattan history.
* Hanson also added 12 goals in finishing up with a team-leading 37 points.                  

Close Calls
* Manhattan was 4-2 in games decided by one goal last year, with all six victories coming by three goals or less.
