Jaspers Earn 30-Point Win At Siena

Loudonville, NY - Manhattan women's basketball outscored Siena by 21 points in the second half to take home a 80-50 win over the Saints on Thursday, January 16. With the victory, the Jaspers improve to 7-8 overall this season and 4-2 in conference play, while Siena drops to 3-12 on the year and 1-5 in the MAAC. 

Highlights:
  • Lizahya Morgan (East Hartford, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet) set a career-high with 16 points in the game, surpassing her previous scoring-high of 14. She went 6-9 from the floor with two threes. She added a game-high four steals  and three assists, a season-high. 
  • Freshman Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy) contributed a game-high 19 points against the Saints, earning 12 points in the fourth-quarter alone on 4-4 shooting from three. LaPointe finished the game with five total buckets from beyond the arc, a career-high.
  • Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockaldn) and Julie Høier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) each added 13 points for Manhattan, making it four Jaspers who scored in double-figures on the day. Høier added a game-high seven rebounds and contributed three assists.
  • The Jaspers shot 55.2 percent from the floor for the game, the second-best shooting performance by the team this season. Manhattan shot better than 56 percent in three quarters, and went 18-28 from the floor in the second half. The Jaspers' 50 percent shooting from three was the team's best three-point field goal percentage of the year. 
  •  The Jasper defense held the Saints to 35.2 percent shooting on the day, including 25 percent from three. Siena's 50 points ties for the lowest point total of a Manhattan opponent this season.
  • Manhattan combined for 10 steals and forced 20 turnovers, earning 18 points of those TOs. The Jaspers also held an 18-2 advantage on fast-break points and totaled a season-high six blocks. 
  •  With three blocks in the game, Pamela Miceus (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) surpassed Barbara Kelly (1980-81) and Lindsey Loutsenhizer (2008-12) to become sixteenth on the program's all-time blocks list, now with 48 for her career. She is just one away from tying Joann Nwafili (2004-08) for 15th all-time. 
  • With five rebounds in the game, Courtney Warley (Westchester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) moved past Linda Bores (1980-84) to sit in 16th all-time with 542 career-rebounds. She is now 43 rebounds away from the program's top 15.
