Riverdale, NY - Manhattan volleyball was unable to stage a comeback Saturday, falling to Saint Peter's 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19) in the teams' home opener in Draddy.Â
The Jaspers are now 2-9 on the season (0-1 MAAC), while the Peacocks improve to 3-8 (1-0 MAAC).Â
Highlights:
- Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) led all players with 13 kills, marking her second-straight 13-kill match. She added a game-high four blocks, as well.
- Hoener is now one solo block from entering Manhattan's all-time list, as well as 11 total blocks from that all-time list.Â
- Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) added 11 kills to the Jaspers' attack, while Meagan Miller (Oakville, ON / Oakville Trafalgar) earned 10. Miller contributed three blocks, as well.
- Manhattan held the advantage in points (59-44), kills (47-31), blocks (7-2), assists (42-29) and digs (82-64). However, the Jaspers let up 11 service aces to the Peacocks, as well as 26 attack and 18 service errors.
- The Jaspers took the third set 25-19 behind five kills from Donovan, who hit .400 in the set, and three-straight aces from Julia Menocal (Bronx, NY / Preston). The Jaspers held the Peacocks to -.049 hitting in the set, with eight attack errors. Libero Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) also totaled a set-high nine digs, helping her to a match-high 28.Â
