Volleyball Opens MAAC Play This Weekend

Riverdale, NY - Manhattan volleyball will begin conference play Saturday, September 21, hosting Saint Peter's at 1:00 p.m. in Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers will then host fellow MAAC foe Rider at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. 

Match Notes:

• Manhattan enters this weekend at 2-8 with nonconference wins over Delaware State and Lafayette. Saint Peter's also stands at 2-8 so far this season, with one of those wins also coming over Delaware State. Rider enters MAAC play at 3-8 overall. 
• Manhattan middle blockers Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) and Meagan Miller (Oakville, ON / Oakville Trafalgar) both rank in the MAAC's top 10 for hitting percentage so far this season. Hoener is averaging .274 (sixth), while Miller is hitting .267 (eighth). 
• With 190 total career blocks, Hoener is just 15 away from cracking Manhattan's all time blocks list. She also sits at 41 solo blocks for her career, just two away from that all-time top 10. Hoener is averaging a team-high 0.92 blocks per set this year, ranking sixth in the league.
• Setter Abby Wilde (Parkesberg, PA / Octorora) is averaging 7.47 assists per set this season, ranking sixth in the MAAC. 
• Freshman hitter Lizzi Brown (Orlando, FL / Bishop Moore) has totaled 18 service aces this year, averaging 0.49 aces per set and ranking second in the conference. 
• Libero Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) is quickly climbing up the Jaspers' digs total list, with a team-best 139 this season. She averages 3.66 digs per set and ranks fourth in the MAAC.
• Two Saint Peter's hitters are currently hitting more than two kills per set: Alanis Alvarado (2.84, eighth in the MAAC) and Angeleyshka Curbelo (2.32). As a team, the Peacocks are hitting .103 for the year. 
• Junior Karla Seda leads the conference in digs per set, averaging 5.11. 
• Rider boasts three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Morgan Romano, an opposite hitter who leads the league in total kills (172) and kills per set (4.20). Libero Rachelle Runyon has also earned MAAC Libero of the Week honors twice this season. 
• The Broncs' service game will be tough this weekend: Rider leads the MAAC in total service aces (74) and service aces per set (1.80).
