The Manhattan men's soccer team looks to build upon the success of a historic 2018 campaign when the Jaspers travel to the Keystone state on Friday, August 30, to face the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh.
Game time is scheduled for a 6:00 pm kickoff and fans can access a free live stream of the game on the Patriot League Network.
The Cupboard is Stocked
- Manhattan returns 9-of-11 starters from last season's 12-6 squad.
- Of the 71 points scored in 2018, the Jaspers bring back 84 percent, or 60 points.
- Jaspers tallied 25 goals in 2018 and return 22 goals, or 88 percent of the goal scorers
- Offensively, Manhattan has their top four leaders in points from a year ago, with junior Brandon Joseph-Buadi leading the way with five goals and three assists (13 points) in 2018
- Senior defender Adrien Awana and junior attacker Berti Fourrier, both of whom supplied four goals last season, were each tabbed to the preseason All-MAAC team.
Defensive Strength
- Manhattan also brings back one of the best goalkeepers in the MAAC in senior Marcellin Gohier.
- Gohier is tied for the program record with 12 shutouts in his career and is a two time All-MAAC honoree.
- The third-year Jasper was named MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017 and was a 2018 All-MAAC Second Team selection a year ago.
- In 2018, he permitted just 12 goals and posted nine shutouts, both eclipsing program records he set in 2017

Jorden Scott has once against named Gohier and senior
Tristan Doran for the second-straight year.
- Gohier made 16 starts in net for the Jaspers a year ago and held opponents to a 0.71 GAA.
- Doran appeared in all 18 games, starting 15 on the backline for Manhattan.

Scouting The Opposition
- The Mountain Hawks were picked third in the Patriot League Preseason Poll after reaching the conference semifinals a year ago with a 9-8-2 overall record.
- This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs in their respective program histories, with Lehigh winning the previous three match-ups.
- This is the second time in program history that Manhattan will open the regular season at Lehigh, also doing so in 2014, with the Mountain Hawks winning by a 2-1 count.
- The last time the two teams met was at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, as the Jaspers fell 1-0 on a second half goal for Lehigh.
- Lehigh had two players named to the Patriot League Preseason all-league selections in senior midfielder Alex Greene and senior defender Zarin Tuten.
