Box Score (PDF)

Flemington, NJ -
Manhattan topped Saint Peter's 15-2 in the series finale between the teams en route to sweeping its third MAAC series of the year.

The Jaspers are now 24-28 and a MAAC-leading 15-6, while the Peacocks fall to 4-44 and 2-19 in the league.

Freshman Sam Franco (Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) led off the game with a solo home run, before graduate student Shawn Blake (Stratford, CT / Elon) singled. Freshman Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY / Suffern) was then plunked, before the game was halted until Monday night.

Blake advanced to third on a fly out on the first pitch after play resumed, before scoring on the second pitch when sophomore Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) hit a sacrifice fly.

Saint Peter's battled back to tie it up at 2-2 in the top of the fourth, thanks to three hits and one error.

Manhattan immediately got that run back in the bottom part of the frame as Padre laced an 0-2 offering for a single, before freshman David Moffett (Oneida, NY / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) ripped a double to left field. Sophomore Jake Knop (Portland, ME / Portland) followed with a sacrifice fly to center that plated Padre in giving the Jaspers a 3-2 advantage.

Senior RHP Ryan Takacs (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) exited after four-strong innings, yielding just one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts, highlighted by punching out the side in his final frame.

Manhattan added to the lead with four runs in the fifth, thanks to a Blake RBI single and a Padre three-run homer.

The Jaspers would further pad the lead with eight more runs over its final three trips to the plate en route to posting a decisive 15-2 victory.

Padre was 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBI and three runs, while Franco also went 2-for-2 with a homer, four runs, three RBI, two walks and two stolen bases to lead a 12-hit attack.

Junior RHP Teddy Sabato (Rye Brook, NY / UNC) struck out four over 3.0 hitless innings in earning the win.

The Jaspers will return to action at Quinnipiac on Thursday, May 16 with first pitch tabbed for 12:00 pm.
