Jaspers Fall To Monmouth

Box Score (PDF)

West Long Branch, NJ -
Monmouth rallied for an 11-6 win over Manhattan in MAAC action at Kessler Field.

Senior Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) scored two goals with two assists while classmate William Ratchford (Mountain Lakes, NJ / Mountain Lakes) added two goals to lead the way for the Jaspers.

Giarratana, who collected his 29th career multi-goal performance, is now second in program history with 99 career goals, third with 158 career points and tied for third with 59 career assists.

Down 1-0 in the first period, Manhattan ripped off four-straight goals in jumping to a 4-1 advantage after one period of play. Ratchford notched the first Jasper, before Giarratana found the back of the net.

Ratchford followed with his second goal of the game, before junior Luke Hanson (Middletown, NY / Minisink Valley) capped the first-period scoring off a feed from classmate Mike Lombardi (West Islip, NY / West Islip).

Unfortunately, Monmouth answered with seven-straight goals in taking an 8-4 lead midway through the third quarter.

Freshman Liam Walshe (Commack, NY / Commack) stopped the run with a man-up score off of Giarratana's second assist of the game to trim the deficit to 8-5 with 5:01 to play in the third.

That would be as close as the Jaspers would get as the Hawks added three more goals, before Giarratana closed the scoring with his second goal of the game.

Sophomore Brendan Krebs (East Williston, NY / Chaminade) registered double-figures in saves for the 10th time this year, finishing with 11.

Brock Anderson had three goals and an assist while Griffin Figel notched two goals and two assists to lead the way for Monmouth, while Noah Lode made 11 saves in earning the win.

Manhattan is now 5-7 on the year and 1-4 in the MAAC while the Hawks are 3-7 and 2-3 in the league.

The Jaspers return to action against Canisius with opening faceoff slated for Friday, April 19 at 4:30 pm.
