Loudonville, NY - Fueled by a strong second half, Siena posted a 14-7 win over Manhattan in MAAC action at Hickey Field.
The Jaspers are now 4-4 and 1-1 in the MAAC while the Saints improve to 4-3 and 2-0 in the league.
Siena opened the scoring before sophomore
Brendan Krebs (East Williston, NY / Chaminade) left the crease and fired the ball 60 yards into the back of the net to tie it up, before sophomore
Sean MacKinney (Martinsville, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) staked the visitors to a 2-1 lead. Junior
Brandon Grinnell (Wakefield, MA / Wakefield Memorial) and classmate
Trevor Pelletier (Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) would cap the first-half scoring for the Jaspers, as the teams went into halftime tied at 4-4.
Manhattan reclaimed the lead at 5-4 just under two minutes into the third period, as Pelletier notched his second goal off a pass from MacKinney.
Unfortunately, the Saints responded with five-straight scores in opening up a 9-5 advantage with 3:22 to play in the stanza.
Grinnell would briefly quell the spurt with his second goal of the game before Siena out the game with a 5-1 run.
Senior
Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) scored the final Jasper tally and handed out three assists while junior
Luke Hanson (Middletown, NY / Minisink Valley) had two assists in collecting his sixth multi-assist game of the year.
Krebs made 15 saves between the pipes to go along with his impressive goal.
Jack Kiernan scored six goals while Mike Reilly added three to pace the Siena offense.
Manhattan will return to action against Marist at Gaelic Park on Saturday, March 23 with opening faceoff slated for 1:00 pm.
