Manhattan Ends Non-Conference With Drexel, Wagner

Riverdale, NY – Manhattan women's lacrosse seeks to wrap up one of its best non-conference performances in program history when it stays in New York City to host Drexel and visit Wagner.
 
The Jaspers welcome the Dragons to Gaelic Park on Tuesday, March 12 at 4:00 pm. Fans unable to attend the game can watch it live on the Jasper Sports Network and follow live statistics courtesy of the Manhattan athletic department.
 
The 2019 non-conference finale takes place on Saturday, March 16 as the J's travel to Staten Island for a match with the Seahawks at 1:00 pm. Fans can view the game on NEC Front Row and catch live statistics from the Wagner athletic department.
 
LAST WEEK
  • Manhattan enjoyed another 2-0 week, the only MAAC team to go undefeated.
  • On Wednesday, March 6, the Jaspers came back in the second half to take down CCSU 7-4 in a road contest. Senior attacker Molly Fitzpatrick scored her 100th career goal.
  • Returning to the Bronx on Saturday, March 9, the Kelly Green and White outscored Sacred Heart 10-1 in the first stanza for a 13-4 win.
 
AWARDS ON AWARDS
  • For the third straight week, Manhattan has earned the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week award.
  • Senior defender Emma Kaishian picked up her first-career Defensive Player of the Week award, scooping up 12 ground balls in the two games.
  • Freshman attacker Cassidy Burns garnered Rookie of the Week honors for a second-straight week, leading the team with eight points off three goals and five assists.
  • Fitzpatrick was also named the ATAX Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 4 – March 10.
 
BEAT THE STREAK
  • Manhattan's 5-1 start is its best performance to begin the season the Jaspers also went 5-1 in 2008.
  • The J's have never started a season 6-1.
  • In addition, the five-game winning streak is tied for the longest in program history, which was last accomplished in 2004.
  • During the ride, Manhattan is allowing 5.2 goals per game and hasn't allowed more than seven.
  • On the flip side, the Jaspers have outshot their opponents 92-67 in that span.

PRISTINE PRESTIANO
  • Senior goalkeeper Nikki Prestiano is on the best stretch of her four-year career, recently surpassing 3,000 career minutes over 53 games.
  • Heading into Monday, Prestiano is second in Division I women's lacrosse with a .583 save percentage and a 6.05 goals-against average on the season.
  • In every 2019 affair, Prestiano has recorded more saves than goals allowed.

  • Manhattan's five wins are tied for 18th-most in the country at the Division I level. The 5-1 winning percentage is 16th.
  • In addition to its .591 save percentage ranking second in the nation, the J's boast the second-best scoring defense, allowing six score per contest.

  • Individually, Kaishian is fourth at 4.17 ground balls per match.
