Manhattan Returns To Action At Bryant

 Fresh off a MAAC-opening win over St. Bonaventure, Manhattan (2-2) will look to make it two in a row when it travels to Bryant (2-2) on Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 pm.

BREAKING: The game will now be played at 1:00 pm in the Conaty Indoor Athletic Center and will not be open to the general public.

The Tick Tock
* The Jaspers opened league play last Saturday with a 15-12 win over the Bonnies thanks to a balanced attack that featured nine different goal scorers.
* The 15 goals represent the most since a 20-5 win over Wagner on April 3, 2012.
* Junior Luke Hanson handed out a career-high four assists with two goals.
* Sophomore Sean MacKinney scored a team-high three goals with two assists in the win over St. Bonaventure after recording two scores and an assist against Lafayette.
* Senior Robert Carroll was 20-for-29 from the faceoff X with a career-high 13 ground balls against the Bonnies while sophomore Brendan Krebs made six of his nine saves in the fourth quarter.
* Freshman Liam Walshe scored the first two goals of his Manhattan career.
* It was also the Jaspers' first league-opening victory since besting VMI on March 26, 2011.

* One year after leading the nation by killing off 81.6 percent of penalties, the Manhattan defense is back at it again in denying the opposition on seven of its nine extra-man opportunities.

The Krebs Cycle
* Thanks to the play of Krebs, the Jaspers have a MAAC-best 11.50 GAA.

Tops In The League
* Manhattan also leads the circuit with 30.8 ground balls per game and a league-low 2.5 penalties each time out.

The Parker & Luke Show
* Senior Parker Giarratana is tied for the MAAC lead with 4.0 points per game while Hanson is averaging a league-high 2.0 assists each time out.

Did You Know?
* The two teams (Lafayette, VMI) that the Jaspers have lost to are a combined 6-1.

Bryant-Manhattan Notes
* Bryant posted a 15-7 win despite two goals from senior Parker Giarratana.
* The Bulldogs lead the all-time series by a 3-0 count, including going 2-0 in Smithfield.
* Giarratana has five goals and two assists in his career against Bryant while Hanson has three scores and two assists.

Scouting Bryant
* The Bulldogs enter with a 2-2 record, having defeated Providence and Dartmouth, while losing to Bucknell and Boston U.
* Marc O'Rourke leads Bryant with nine goals, six assists and 15 points.

Did You Know
* O'Rourke was the 2018 NEC Rookie of the Year while Giarratana was tabbed as the MAAC's top rookie in 2016.

Giarratana Named MAAC Offensive Player Of The Week
* Giarratana collected MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, after leading the Jaspers to an 11-10 season-opening win against Wagner. He earned the award after scoring four goals with two assists and five ground balls.

Giarratana In The School Rankings
* The Sunshine State native is fourth in school history with 90 career goals, fifth with 51 assists and fifth with 141 points.
* For his career, Giarratana also has four five-goal performances, three four-score outings and eight hat tricks.

Krebs Named MAAC Defensive Player Of The Week
* Krebs made his first career victory a memorable one, turning away 13 saves in the Jaspers aforementioned victory over Wagner. The second-year netminder also collected four ground balls in posting a .565 save percentage.

* Manhattan's victory over Wagner represented just the fourth time in program history that the Jaspers won their season opener.

The Faceoff X
* Carroll is now 49-of-90 (.544) on faceoffs with a team-leading 20 ground balls.

The Returners 
* The Jaspers boast a roster of 42 student-athletes, including 33 returning letterwinners and nine starters in 2019.

Parker Garners Preseason All-MAAC Accolades
* Giarratana was cited by Inside Lacrosse and the MAAC as a preseason all-league selection.

* A two-time All-MAAC Second Team honoree, the Sunshine State native registered 23 goals, a career-high 23 assists and a personal-best 46 points in 2018.
* His 1.64 assists per game ranked fourth in the MAAC, while his 23 assists are the most by a Manhattan student-athlete since Eugene Tanner in 2005, and tied for the sixth-most in a single season.

* Kelleher will welcome nine student-athletes into the program in 2019.

* Justin Otto '06 was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame this past November, while the 2002 MAAC Championship team earned special recognition.
