Jaspers Fall To Gaels On The Road

New Rochelle, NY - Unable to avenge an earlier MAAC match against Iona, Manhattan volleyball fell to the Gaels in three sets Saturday, November 9 at Iona's Hynes Center. 

Manhattan moves to 6-22 overall this season and 3-12 in the MAAC. Iona improves to 5-21 and 5-11 in the conference. 

With the loss, the Jaspers are unable to qualify for conference play this season, as just the top six teams moves on to the MAAC tournament. 

Highlights:

• Iona took the match 25-23, 25-16, 25-22. 
• Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) led the Jaspers with nine kills and five blocks, bringing her career block total to 255, good for eighth place all-time.
• Her 197 career block assists also ranks her at seventh all-time. 
• With 24 solo blocks this season, Hoener is tied for 10th on the program's single season top 10 list. 
• Libero Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) secured a game-high 16 digs in the match, bringing her season total to 436, just 36 digs away from Manhattan's single-season top 10 digs list with three matches left.
• Abby Wilde (Parkesberg, PA / Octorora) made it a double-double Saturday, earning 18 assists and 13 digs for the match.
• Iona's Tess Connolly led all players with 14 kills, while teammate Julia Stewart added 10.
