WBB Hits The Road For Lafayette Match-Up

Easton, PA - Manhattan women's basketball will take on Lafayette Tuesday, November 26 at 7:00 pm in the Kirby Sports Center. The game can be watched live on the Patriot League Network. 

GAME NOTES

Last Outing
Freshman Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy) scored a career-high 18 points at Villanova Thursday, November 21, leading the Jasper offense in a 63-51 loss to the Big East foe. LaPointe went 6-14 from the floor and 3-7 from three in her first collegiate start. She scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Jaspers cut the Villanova lead to four with 4:35 to play. 

Pamela Miceus (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) also earned a career-high Thursday night, pulling down 11 rebounds and besting her former high of nine earned at home against Rider last season. Miceus earned nine boards in the first half against the Wildcats, and six in the first quarter. 

The Jaspers forced 18 Villanova turnovers, while committing just 13 on the other end. Manhattan also finished with eight teams steals to the Wildcats' seven.

Rookie of the Week
After a career performance at Villanova, LaPointe was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on November 25. It is the first conference accolade of her collegiate career.

Rankings
One of the toughest defensive squads in the MAAC last year, the Jaspers continue the tradition early this season, ranking fourth in the league for scoring defense and holding opponents to 64.8 points per game. With 3.5 blocks per game, Manhattan is second in the MAAC, while also ranking second in steals (8.8) per game.

Junior guard Lynette Taitt (Bronx, NY / Bishop Loughlin) leads the MAAC in steals per game (3.25), ranking 27th in the nation. She's tied at 14th in the league for rebounding this year, pulling down 5.8 per game, including 4.5 defensive rebounds per game (13th in the MAAC). 

Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) ranks in the MAAC's top five for rebounding (4th, 7.3 per game), steals (4th, 2.8 per game), and blocked shots (5th, 1.0 per game). The 2018-19 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, she also ranks 61st in all of Division I for steals per game.

About the Leopards
Lafayette enters Tuesday's game with a .500 record and wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU and Albany. The Leopards have won two straight, as well. 

Against Albany on November 23, Natalie Kucowski led the Leopards in points (15) and rebounds (14), earning her third-straight double-double and her fifth of the season. Her 14.2 points and 12.0 rebounds per game are both team-highs. She has also recorded 16 blocks over six games.

Last Meeting 
Lafayette entered the last meeting with the Jaspers on December 4, 2018 ranked 15th in the nation at 46.7 rebounds per game. But, Manhattan held the Leopards to just 31 on the night, while grabbing 38 boards themselves, powering the Jaspers to a 60-49 win at home.

All-Time Series
Manhattan is 5-5 all-time against Lafayette, defeating the Leopards 60-49 at home last season. 

Manhattan last visited Lafayette on December 2, 2011, with the Jaspers battling back from a 14-point deficit before dropping the contest 48-43. It was Manhattan's first time on Lafayette's home court since 1991.
