Final Results
West Long Branch, NJ – Sophomore
Branden Deiss (Benoni, South Africa / Crawford College Lonehill) led the way for the Manhattan Swimming team, collecting one win with a pair of second-place finishes in a tri-meet at Monmouth.
Deiss was victorious in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:02.23, while finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle and as a member of the 200 freestyle relay team.
Senior
Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY / Chaminade) also had a strong day for the Jaspers. Valentine won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.96, while also earning the first position in the 200-yard IM. Valentine closed his day with a second-place showing in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Junior
Artur Polyak (Haifa, Israel / Pittsburgh) led a relay team of sophomore
Michael Popescu (Matthews, NC / Marvin Ridge), junior
Derek Lederer (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) and junior
Charles Ledda (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield) to a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Polyak also earned two second-place finishes in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke.
On the women's side, freshman
Mackenzie Tuttle (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) recorded two second-place finishes, highlighted by posting a school record time of 10:46.87 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Classmate
Ciara Dalton (Pleasantville, NY / Byram Hills) also had a showing, finishing second in the 200 yard IM.
For the meet, the Manhattan men's team fell to Saint Peter's 163-94, while the women's team was defeated by Siena 204.5-44.5 and Monmouth 194-52.
Manhattan concludes the fall portion of its 2019 schedule at the ECAC Championships December 6-8 in East Meadow, NY.
