Manhattan fell to Duquesne 76-65 on Sunday, November 10 in the Jaspers' home opener. Trailing 34-19 in the second quarter, the Jaspers went on a 15-4 run to close out the half, behind by just four going into the locker room, but a difficult third quarter extended the Duquesne lead. Manhattan could only muster six points in the stanza, while the Dukes shot 38.5 percent from the floor, earning 17 points.
Top Performers
Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) scored a team-high 16 points against Duquesne, going 5-8 from the floor and 5-6 from the free throw line for the afternoon. She also contributed to the offense by doling out six assists. Two other players scored in double-figures for Manhattan:
Lizahya Morgan (East Hartford, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet) and
Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy). Morgan tied her career-high with 14 points, shooting 4-9 from three, while LaPointe put in 10, her new collegiate high.
About the Knights
Fairleigh Dickinson was picked to finish ninth in the NEC's preseason poll after going 5-13 in conference and 8-22 overall last year. The Knights fell to top-seeded Robert Morris 64-38 in the 2019 NEC tournament.
FDU enters today's game 0-2, with losses to Lafayette and Loyola (MD). Sophomore Lindsey Mack led the Knights with 12 points in their 61-29 loss to the Leopards, going 4-10 and hitting three treys. In a 75-46 loss to Loyola in the Knights' home opener, Sierra DeAngelo scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down six rebounds, while also recording an assist and a block in 25 minutes off the bench.
