Volleyball Takes On Connecticut Swing

Fairfield, CT - Manhattan volleyball will travel to both Fairfield and Quinnipiac this weekend, hitting the road for the first time in six matches. The Jaspers will play Fairfield at 1:00 p.m. on October 5, and will take on Quinnipiac at the same time the following day. 

Match Notes: 
  • Manhattan enters this weekend's contests 2-13 overall and 0-4 in the MAAC. Fairfield is undefeated in conference play, with a season record of 8-4. Quinnipiac stands at 0-3 in conference and 4-8 this year. 
  • In the Jaspers' previous match against Fairleigh Dickinson, junior middle blocker Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) jumped into the program's top 10 all-time list for total blocks, reaching 205 for her career. She's two blocks away from tying for ninth on that list, and also two solo blocks away for ninth all-time in that category. Hoener currently ranks sixth in the MAAC at 0.89 blocks per set. 
  • Libero Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) is averaging 5.20 digs per set in MAAC play and 4.14 overall, ranking fifth in the conference. 
  • Meagan Miller (Oakville, ON / Oakville Trafalgar) leads the Jaspers in hitting percentage, with an attack average of .251 this season, good for eighth in the MAAC. Four Jaspers, Hoener, Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor), Julia Menocal (Bronx, NY / Preston) and Lizzi Brown (Orlando, FL / Bishop Moore) are averaging 2.00 or more kills per set in MAAC play. 
  • Manhattan is looking for its first win against Fairfield since 2014, when the Jaspers swept the Stags in both matches of the conference schedule, playing both match-ups to five sets. 
  • Last season, Manhattan split with Quinnipiac, beating the Bobcats in four sets at Draddy on October 13. 
  • Fairfield ranks second in the MAAC in hitting percentage, hitting .196 as a team. Luci Albertson leads the Stags, hitting .331 so far this season, while Kaylie Butts leads the MAAC with 1.04 blocks per set. 
  • Quinnipiac ranks third in the league for team blocks, averaging 1.98 per set. Kaleigh Oates holds the conference's best hitting percentage at .381 this year. She also ranks third in blocks at 0.93 per set.
