Volleyball Travels To Western New York

Buffalo, NY - Manhattan volleyball will take on both Canisius and Niagara this weekend as the Jaspers make their annual MAAC trip to Western New York. They will face the Golden Griffins on Saturday, October 26 at 1:00 pm and the Purple Eagles on Sunday, October 27 at the same time. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN3. 

Matches Notes:
  • Manhattan (6-17, 3-7 MAAC) fell to both teams at home earlier this year. The Jaspers took Niagara (7-12, 6-3 MAAC) to four sets on September 28 before losing to Canisius (9-12, 6-3 MAAC) in three the next day. 
  • The Niagara match marked the first collegiate contest for starting setter Julieanne McKee (Poughkeepsie, NY / Spackenkill), who tallied 38 assists against the Purple Eagles. She's averaging 8.61 assists per set (8.72 against MAAC opponents). 
  • Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, NY / Newport Harbor) is hitting a team-high 2.68 kills per set for the Jaspers, with 2.34 digs per set and a team-best 26 aces. She ranks third in the MAAC with 0.46 aces per set. As a team, the Jaspers lead the conference in service aces (126). 
  • Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) leads the MAAC in blocks (82) and blocks per set (0.96) this season. With 155 blocks on the year, Manhattan ranks second in the MAAC.
  • Libero Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) sits at sixth in the MAAC in digs per set (4.09) going into this weekend. She has earned 4.59 digs per set against conference opponents this year. 
  • At third in the league standings, Canisius is on a three-match losing streak, falling to Siena, Quinnipiac and undefeated Fairfield between October 13 and October 20. 
  • MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Leah Simmons is averaging just over three kills per set for the Golden Griffs, hitting .301 on the season. 
  • Niagara currently ties Canisius for third place in the MAAC standings. Last weekend, the Purple Eagles split against Fairfield and Quinnipiac, losing to the Stags in three before defeating the Bobcats 3-1. 
  • Jaycie Roberts is contributing 2.70 kills per set for Niagara, hitting .231.Cameron Maris adds 0.95 blocks per set for the Purple Eagles.
