Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) tallied a career-high 20 kills and a .741 hitting percentage to lift Manhattan volleyball over Saint Peter's 3-1 on Wednesday, October 16 in Jersey City, NJ. The Jaspers took the match 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 31-29.
The Jaspers get their second conference win of the season and improve to 4-16 overall. The Peacocks fall to 3-17 on the year and 1-8 in the MAAC.Â
Highlights:
- Hoener bested her previous career-high of 16 kills, set last season. Her 20 kills also marked the highest single-match kill total by a Jasper this season. She added four blocks on the day, as well as two service aces.Â
- Freshman setter Julieanne McKee (Poughkeepsie, NY / Spackenkill) also earned a career-high Wednesday night, finishing with a match-high 51 assists. Her four kills from the setting position were a collegiate best, as well.Â
- Meagan Miller (Oakville, ON / Oakville Trafalgar) was spectacular at the net, totaling a match-best five blocks. Manhattan out-blocked Saint Peter's 9-2 as a team, helping to boost the Peacocks' attack errors to 24 for the night.
- The Jaspers held Saint Peter's to .199 hitting as a team, while combining for a .271 percentage of their own, the second-highest team hitting percentage of the season.
- Manhattan fended off five Saint Peter's set points in the fourth set, extending it to a 31-29 win. The Jaspers got their final three points of the match off of kills from Hoener, Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) and Julia Menocal (Bronx, NY / Preston).
- Donovan finished the match with 13 kills, while Menocal added 11.
- Three Jaspers finished with double-digit digs, including a team-high 19 from libero Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe). Reyn Hoffman (Ventura, CA / Ventura) totaled 14, while Donovan contributed 11.
- Alanis Alvarado and Angeleyshka Curbelo both earned 19 kills for Saint Peter's, with Curbelo hitting .462. Karla Seda finished the match with 23 digs to lead all players.
