Pollock Earns Career High In Rider Loss

Riverdale, NY - Manhattan's Kania Pollock (Queens, NY / The Mary Louis Academy) put in 20 points against Rider on Sunday, January 20, setting a new career-high as the Jaspers fell to Rider 73-63 in Draddy.

Manhattan moves to 3-13 on the year and 1-4 in MAAC play. The Broncs remain undefeated in the league at 6-0 and improve to 10-7 overall.

Highlights:
  • Pollock's 20 points bests her previous career-high of 14, earned against Sacred Heart on December 16. This is her second double-figure scoring game in a row, and her third in four games. Pollock went 7-12 from the floor and 5-12 from the foul line. She added five rebounds and two assists.
  • Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) added 16 points to the Jaspers' offensive effort on Sunday, her second-best scoring performance of the season. She shot 62.5 percent from the floor and was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe. She added two blocks to her stat line, as well as six rebounds.
  • Earning her second collegiate start Sunday afternoon, Pamela Miceus (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) pulled down a career-high nine boards for Manhattan, leading all players. The Jaspers out-rebounded Rider 37-33 on the afternoon.
  • Manhattan fell behind early, giving Rider a 23-12 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. The Broncs increased their lead to 21 in the second quarter, their largest of the game, but we're stymied by a 13-2 Manhattan run in the second half of the period. Four Jaspers scored in the run, including six from Pollock, cutting the lead to 37-27 going into the locker room at halftime.
  • The Jaspers kept up the pressure in the third, holding the Broncs to 16 points and scoring 15 of their own, including a half court buzzer-beater from Pollock to end the quarter down 53-42.
  • After a three from Rider's Mia Farmer opened scoring in the fourth, Manhattan went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to seven. Another Rider basket brought it to nine, before a three from Sydney Watkins (Wanaque, NJ / Saddle River Day) and free throw from Julie Hoier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) got the Jaspers within five with five minutes to play.
  • Manhattan shot 85.7 percent in the fourth, but just six field goals wasn't enough to overtake the Broncs, as Lexi Posset made seven free throws down the stretch to cement the win for Rider.
  • Manhattan's 63 points made for the Jaspers' second-highest scoring total of the season (they scored 65 at St. Francis Brooklyn). The team's 20 free throws made and 30 attempted were also season highs.
  • The Jaspers let up a season-high nine threes to Rider, including four from Stella Johnson, the MAAC's leading scorer. Johnson and Posset both finished with a game-high 22 points.
