Toledo, OH - Manhattan volleyball fell in three straight sets to the Duquesne Dukes Friday, September 7 in the Jaspers' first match of the University of Toledo's Blue and Gold Tournament. Manhattan drops to 0-8 on the season, while the Dukes improved to 4-3.
Match Notes:
- Senior hitter Olyvia Chaltas (Temecula, CA / Great Oak) led the Jaspers with five kills on 15 attack attempts (.200 hitting percentage). Senior Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State) paced Manhattan with 5.5 points on 4-8 hitting.
- Freshman setter Shruti Mangipudi (San Ramon, CA / Dougherty Valley) earned a team-high 12 assists.Â
- The Jaspers tallied four team blocks to Duquesne's two. Sophomore middle blocker Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) earned a team-high three blocks, bringing her season total to 17 to lead the Jaspers.
- Senior libero Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) tallied 13 of Manhattan's 35 digs. Teammate Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) also stepped into the libero position in the third set for the first time this season.Â
- Manhattan held Duquesne to its lowest hitting percentage (.120) of the match in the third set. But offensively the Jaspers were only able to earn seven kills on 26 attempts, while also committing six attack errors.Â
