Riverdale, NY - Fresh off its second MAAC Championship game appearance in three seasons, the Manhattan Women's Soccer team will begin the 2018 season on Thursday, August 23 at defending Atlantic 10 Champion La Salle with first kick tabbed for 6:00 pm.
About The 2018 Jaspers
The Jaspers return 23 letterwinners, including nine starters, from last year's team that went 10-7-3 (6-2-2 MAAC) en route to finishing second place in the MAAC before falling in the MAAC Championship to back-to-back MAAC Champion Monmouth.

Are 2018 All-MAAC preseason team selections senior
Emma Saul and junior
Arianna Montefusco. Saul broke out in a big way as a junior, tying for the MAAC lead with nine assists to go along with four goals. Sauls also scored a point in 11 matches while ranking ninth in the league with 17 points. Montefusco established herself as a bonafide scoring threat, finishing third in the MAAC with nine goals and fifth with 21 points. She also garnered MAAC All-Tournament accolades after scoring two goals in Manhattan's semifinal victory over Quinnipiac, including the game-winning score.

Caroline Taylor (13 games, 1 goal - '17) have helped Manhattan to a solid 27-22-7 (16-8-6 MAAC) record and the programs' first two trips to the MAAC Finals during their first three seasons.

15 of Manhattan's 20 returning field players either found the back of the net or assisted on a Jasper goal in 2017.

For the second time in three years, Manhattan posted an unbeaten (4-0-1) record at home during MAAC play, matching the 2015 squad.

Since the start of the 2012 season, the Jaspers are 27-19-4, including 16-10-4 during league play, at Gaelic Park.

The program's all-time winningest coach and 2015 MAAC Coach of the Year returns for his ninth season in 2018.
Roadtripping
The Jaspers will be opening the season on the road for the first time since the 2012 season.

Manhattan is 14-12-1, all-time, in season openers and has won five of its last six lidlifters.
Scouting La Salle
The Explorers enter Thursday night's tilt with a perfect 2-0 record after defeating Syracuse 1-0 and UMBC 5-0. Madison Bower has scored three of La Salle's six goals while Claudia Jenkins has made six saves in recording a pair of shutouts.
All-Time Against The Explorers
Manhattan is 1-2, all-time, against La Salle with all three match-ups taking place in Philadelphia. The teams last met in 2007 with the Jaspers posting a 2-1 win.

Manhattan will snap a six-match losing streak to the Atlantic 10 dating back to 2013.
Sunday Showdown!
The Jaspers will open the home portion of their schedule on Sunday at 10:00 am against Hartford.

Non-Conference Noise
Manhattan will play six non-conference games against schools from three leagues. The Jaspers will square off with La Salle and Fordham from the Atlantic 10, Hartford and Binghamton from the America East and Jacksonville and North Florida from the Atlantic Sun.
