Riverdale, NY -
Manhattan dropped an 18-8 decision to Detroit Mercy on Senior Day at Gaelic Park.

Prior to the game, seniors Ken Braun (Mahwah, NJ / Mahwah), Andrew Gresham (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada / Pitt Meadows Secondary), Zach Mermelstein (Pelham, NY / The Hill Academy), Chris Sammarro (Mountain Lakes, NJ / Mountain Lakes) and Michael Zingaro (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Walter Panas) were recognized for the dedication to the program in a pregame ceremony.

Despite the defeat, freshman Sean MacKinney (Martinsville, NJ / Bridgewater Raritan), Justin Malpica (Glen Head, NY / Long Island Lutheran) and sophomore CJ Scharf (West Islip, NY / West Islip) all recorded two goals while junior Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) had a goal and an assist with sophomore Mike Lombardi (West Islip, NY / West Islip) notching two assists to round out the Jaspers with multiple-points.

Matthew Vangalen opened the game with first four Titan goals as the visitors jumped out to an early 5-1 lead. Manhattan would answer with back-to-back scores from Scharf and Malpica in trimming the deficit to 5-3 after one period of action.

The teams would each find the back of the net to start the second period before Detroit Mercy ended the half with a 4-2 spurt in opening up a 10-6 lead at the break.

MacKinney opened the third period with his second score of the game in trimming the deficit to 10-7 only to have the Titans rattle off five-straight goals en route to ending the game on an 8-1 run.

The Jaspers fall to 4-8 and 0-4 in the MAAC while the Titans improve to 6-6 and 4-1 in the league.

Manhattan returns to action at Canisius on Friday, April 20 with opening faceoff tabbed for 4:00 pm.
