Riverdale, NY - Manhattan dropped an 18-8 decision to Detroit Mercy on Senior Day at Gaelic Park.

Zach Mermelstein (Pelham, NY / The Hill Academy),

Michael Zingaro (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Walter Panas) were recognized for the dedication to the program in a pregame ceremony.
Despite the defeat, freshman
Sean MacKinney (Martinsville, NJ / Bridgewater Raritan),
Justin Malpica (Glen Head, NY / Long Island Lutheran) and sophomore
CJ Scharf (West Islip, NY / West Islip) all recorded two goals while junior
Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) had a goal and an assist with sophomore
Mike Lombardi (West Islip, NY / West Islip) notching two assists to round out the Jaspers with multiple-points.
Matthew Vangalen opened the game with first four Titan goals as the visitors jumped out to an early 5-1 lead. Manhattan would answer with back-to-back scores from Scharf and Malpica in trimming the deficit to 5-3 after one period of action.
The teams would each find the back of the net to start the second period before Detroit Mercy ended the half with a 4-2 spurt in opening up a 10-6 lead at the break.
MacKinney opened the third period with his second score of the game in trimming the deficit to 10-7 only to have the Titans rattle off five-straight goals en route to ending the game on an 8-1 run.
The Jaspers fall to 4-8 and 0-4 in the MAAC while the Titans improve to 6-6 and 4-1 in the league.
Manhattan returns to action at Canisius on Friday, April 20 with opening faceoff tabbed for 4:00 pm.
NOTES
* Manhattan denied Detroit Mercy on both of its man-up opportunities and has now yielded just one man-up score in 17 attempts over the last four games.
* The Jaspers went 16-for-29 on faceoffs with junior
Joseph Bressingham (Glen Cove, NY / Nassau CC) going 12-of-21 while adding nine ground balls.
* Zingaro made 14 saves in notching his double-figures in saves for the 36th time in his career and went over the 600-save plateau.
* Giarratana now has 79 goals, 41 assists and 120 points to go along with 23 multi-goal games.
*Â 76.8 percent of the Jaspers' goals (76-of-99) and 63.2 percent of their assists (36-of-57) have been recorded by underclassmen.
* Vangalen scored seven goals with four assists to pace Detroit Mercy while Logan Shamblin recorded the win, making 11 saves.
