Simonetti did a fantastic job all game with runners on and set the tone by leaving the bases loaded in the top of the first.

The Jaspers plated their first run with a single score in the fourth inning. Junior Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) worked a one-out walk before classmate Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) reached via a bunt single. Following a fly out, freshman Matt Padre (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) legged out an infield single to plate Pena with the first run of the game.

Manhattan scored the second run of the game in the top of the ninth as Barrella and senior Brendan Bisset (New City, NY / Don Bosco Prep (NJ)) each drew one-out walks before Padre loaded the bases up with his second hit of the game. After Brian Weissert got the second out of the frame via a punchout, senior Paul Genners (Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep) drew a five-pitch walk to force in Barrella.

Sophomore RHP T.J. Stuart (Milford, CT / Joseph A. Foran) then closed out the win by stranding a pair of runners in collecting his sixth save of the season.

For the game, the duo of Simonetti and Stuart limited the Rams to 0-for-14 lwith runners in scoring position.

Simonetti improved to 3-1 on the year while extending his scoreless streak to 14.0 innings after fanning 10 over 7.0 innings last weekend against Saint Peter's.

Billy Godrick and Reiss Knehr each had two of Fordham's six hits. RHP Ben Greenberg (3-1) was saddled with the loss, striking out seven while yielding one run on three hits.

Game 2
Fordham scored five unearned runs en route to posting a 9-1 win over Manhattan in game two.

The Rams plated three runs in the bottom of the third to open the scoring before the Jaspers got one run back in the top of the fourth when Pena belted his fourth home run of the year.

RHP Anthony DiMeglio struck out eight while yielding one run on two hits over 7.0 innings in earning the win.

Barrella recorded the only other Jasper hit in extending his hitting streak to 13 games.

Junior RHP Joe DiNizio (Middlesex, NJ / Middlesex), yielded just two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Matt Tarabek was 2-for-4 with two RBU and a run to pace a six-hit Fordham attack.
