Bronx, NY - Fueled by a strong pitching performance, Fordham registered an 8-3 win over Manhattan in the opener of a three-game series at Houlihan Park.
The Jaspers see their five-game winning streak snapped in falling to 12-11 while the Rams improve to 14-7-1.
Fordham opened the scoring with a first-inning run before adding five more in the second inning.
That would be more than enough for RHP Reiss Knehr, who struck out six over 6.0 shutout innings of two-hit ball in earning the win.

Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI to pace a six-hit Manhattan attack while junior
Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Matt Jones (Haddonfield, NJ / Haddonfield Memorial) was impressive on the mound for the Jaspers, striking out four while yielding just one hit over 3.0 innings of relief.
Alvin Melendez went 3-for-3 with two runs, a RBI and a stolen base to lead the way for Fordham, which rapped out 10 hits.
The teams will conclude their series with tomorrow with a 12:00 pm doubleheader.
