HOULIHAN PARK
For the second-straight straight weekend, Manhattan will play at Houlihan Park after sweeping a three-game series against Saint Peter's. Over the last two years, the Jaspers are 6-2 at the field.

BARRELLA, TROCHIANO REPEAT
Junior Richie Barrella garnered MAAC Player of the Week accolades for the second-straight week while freshman Will Trochiano also repeated in claiming his third weekly rookie citation in helping Manhattan open league play with a three-game sweep of Saint Peter's.
- Trochiano continued his torrid start to the season, hitting .444 (8-of-18) in helping the Jaspers to a perfect week.
- Barrella hit .562 (9-of-16) with four runs, a triple, nine RBI, two stolen bases and a walk while reaching base safely at least twice in all four games.

TOPS IN THE MAAC
Manhattan paces the league in hitting (.273), doubles (80), hits (207), runs (85) and strikeouts (8.0/game).

BARRELLA BARRELING IT UP
Barrella has won back-to-back MAAC Player of the Week citations and is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak, during which time he is batting .487 (19-of-39) with eight runs, 11 RBI and four stolen bases while reaching base at a .543 clip. On the year, Barrella is hitting .360 with a team-high nine multi-hit games.

ONE-TWO PUNCH
Graduate student Matt Forlow paces the MAAC with 24 RBI while junior Fabian Pena is second with 23 RBI. Forlow has hit safely in 11-of-12 games and is batting .417 (20-of-48) during that stretch with eight doubles, one triple, one home run, 18 runs, 19 RBI and a .688 slugging percentage. Pena, meanwhile, has reached base safely in 14-straight games and is hitting .333 (19-of-57) with 14 runs, four doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI during that time.

STAY HOT

TROCHIANO ROLLING
Despite seeing his on-base (21) and hitting (11) streaks snapped at Columbia, Trochiano continues to be a major reason the Jaspers own the top offense in the MAAC. The rookie standout has scored a league-high 23 runs and is batting .341 while registering a team-leading nine multi-hit games. Over his last 12 games, he is hitting .345 (19-of-55) with 17 runs, five doubles, five RBI and three stolen bases.

MIDWEEK BLISS x3
For the third-straight week, Manhattan posted a solid win during midweek action, besting Columbia 8-7 in 10 innings thanks to senior Michael Pfenninger's two-out RBI double in the top of the 10th. Freshman Matt Padre went 3-for-5 with four RBI while falling a home run short of the cycle to help make a winner out of sophomore RHP T.J. Staurt, who fired 3.0 innings of one-hit ball.

PADRE HEATING UP
Padre is now 6-for-11 with two doubles, a triple, four runs and six RBI over his last two games after going just 2-for-18 over his previous nine games.

FOR STARTERS
The starting rotation of Galvan, Simonetti and DiNizio went 3-0 last weekend against Saint Peter's, registering a 0.47 ERA with 21 strikeouts, against five walks, over 19.0 innings while holding the Peacocks to a .141 average.
- Simonetti struck out a career-high 10 batters over 7.0 innings in throwing a two-hit shutout in securing a doubleheader sweep with his first career complete game shutout.
- Galvan fanned seven, against one walk, while yielding just three hits over 6.0 innings.
- DiNizio earned his first career win with four strikeouts over 6.0 innings of four-hit ball.

STUART SETS THE TONE
To say that sophomore Stuart has established himself as one of the top closers in the region would be the understatement of the year. The Nutmeg State native is 2-0 with five saves, 16 strikeouts and a 1.69 ERA over 21.1 innings while limiting opposing hitters to a scant .111 average. Additionally, he has yielded just seven hits on the season.

LAST YEAR VS. FORDHAM
Graduate student Evan Brown went 4-for-7 with two doubles and two runs as Manhattan split a pair of games with Fordham. Galvan earned the lone win for the Jaspers, striking out seven over 7.0 innings of four-hit ball.

SCOUTING THE RAMS
Fordham (13-7-1) has started out strong thanks to a dominating pitching staff that has recorded a 3.52 ERA while averaging 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. Offensively, the Rams are terrorizing the bases to the tune of 70 stolen bases and are paced by the trio of Matt Tarabak (.304, 7 XBH, 10 RBI, 10 SB) and Billy Godrick (.288, 3 doubles, 3 HR, 7 SB) and Alvin Melendez (10 RBI, 17 SB).

BREAK OUT THE BROOMS
Manhattan swept the weekly MAAC awards with Barrella (Player), sophomore RHP T.J. Stuart (Pitcher) and Trochiano (Rookie) taking home top honors on March 20 after the Jaspers won three-of-four, including a pair of games at La Salle and Villanova.
- Barrella batted .571 (8-of-14) with a double, four runs, four walks, a HBP and two stolen bases while hitting safely in all four games en route to posting a .643 slugging percentage and a .684 OBP.
- Stuart notched saves in all three Manhattan wins last week, striking out four while yielding just one hit and one walk over 5.0 scoreless frames while limiting opposing hitters to a .063 average.
- Trochiano earned his second MAAC Rookie of the Week honor after hitting safely in all four games en route to batting .316 (6-of-19) with five runs, two doubles, two RBI and one stolen base.

PENA NAMED MAAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Junior Fabian Pena hit a blistering .438 (7-for-16) with two doubles, two home runs, seven runs, eight RBI and two walks over four games last week while slugging at a .938 clip en route to being named MAAC Player of the Week on March 13.
- After singling against Stony Brook, Pena went 3-for-4 in the opener at UNC Asheville with two home runs, five runs and five RBI while reaching base safely five times.
- Pena Capped the doubleheader sweep with two more hits, three RBI and a run in the nightcap.

WHAT'S A JASPER?
The unique nickname of Manhattan College's athletic teams, the Jaspers, comes from one of the College's most memorable figures, Brother Jasper of Mary, F.S.C., who served as the College's athletic director in the late 19th century. One of the greatest achievements of Brother Jasper was that he brought the then little-known sport of baseball to Manhattan College and became the team's first coach. Since Brother Jasper was also the Prefect of Discipline, he supervised the student fans at Manhattan baseball games while also directing the team itself. During one particularly warm and humid day when the college was playing a semi-pro baseball team called the Metropolitans, Brother Jasper noticed the Manhattan students were becoming restless and edgy with the team coming to bat in the seventh inning of a close game. To relieve the tension, Brother Jasper called timeout and told the students to stand up and stretch for a few minutes until the game resumed. Since the College annually played the New York Giants in the late 1880's and into the 1890's at the old Polo Grounds, the Manhattan College practice of the "seventh inning stretch" spread into the major leagues, where it has now become a time-honored custom practiced by millions of fans annually.

UP NEXT
Manhattan will play at Army West Point on Tuesday, April 3 with first pitch tabbed for 3:00 pm.
