Northridge, CA - Freshman
Will Trochiano (Morganville, NJ / Marlboro) went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to lead the way for Manhattan in a 31-5 loss to Cal State Northridge (CSUN) in the second of a three-game series at Matador Field.
The Matadors dented the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the first before the Jaspers quickly responded in the top of the second.
Junior
Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) led off with an infield single before senior
Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) drew a two-out walk. The runners then moved to second-and-third on a
Brandon Valls (Sr., Miami, FL / Dean CC) single. Trochiano followed with a two-run single up the middle in tying up the score at 2-2.
Unfortunately, CSUN answered with eight-straight runs before Trochiano crushed his first career home run in the top of the fourth inning.
Manhattan added two more runs on sophomore
Ashton Bianchi's (Mullica Hills, NJ / Clearview Regional) first career home run, a two-run shot in the eighth inning.
Barrella went 3-for-4 with two runs to join Trochiano with multiple-hits.
Nick Sablock went 4-for-5 with with a home run, six RBI and four runs to lead the way for the Matadors.
The teams will conclude their series tomorrow at 4:00 pm (EST).
