Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) crushed his first home run, but it wasn't enough as Manhattan dropped the opener of a three-game series to CSUN by a 21-5 count.
The Jaspers fall to 0-4 while the Matadors improve to 2-3 as the teams will resume their series tomorrow with a 4:00 pm (EST) maoch-up.

Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) each had two hits to pace the Manhattan offense.
The Jaspers dented the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the top of the opening frame. Freshman
Will Trochiano (Morganville, NJ / Marlboro) led off with a single before moving to second on a successful hit-and-run with Bisset. CSUN starting pitcher Tei Vanderford then got each of the next two batters before Trochiano and Bisset advanced to second-and-third on a wild pitch. Barrella followed with a two-run single up the middle in staking the visitors to a 2-0 advantage.
CSUN would answer with nine unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning in taking a 9-2 lead.
The Matadors added four runs in extending their advantage out to 13-2 before Manhattan got three runs back in the sixth. Bisset singled with one out before Pena crushed a home run. Forlow followed with a triple and would come around to score on Barrella's second run-scoring hit of the game.
Graduate student
Joe Jacques (Shrewsbury, NJ / Red Bank Regional) was the pitcher of record, striking out five while yielding nine unearned runs, on nine hits and a pair of walks over 2.2 innings.
Brandon Bohning, Trevor Casanova and Joey Cooper each had four hits to pace the CSUN offense while Tei Vanderford struck out six over 6.0 innings of work in earning the win.
