Williams' Career-High 29 Not Enough

Hamden, CT - Senior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) scored a career-high 29 points but it wasn't enough as Quinnipiac defeated Manhattan 71-70 at the TD Bank Sports Center.
 
The Jaspers fall to 12-15 and 7-8 in the MAAC while the Bobcats improve to 10-17 and 7-8 in the league.

Williams finished up 8-of-16 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from deep, and 8-of-9 from the line while senior Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) had another monster game with 19 points and 11 rebounds in notching his seventh career double-double. 

Trailing 69-64 with 1:40 to play following a pair of Cameron Young free throws, Williams drained his fourth triple of the night in making it a one-possession game. On the ensuing possession, sophomore Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) drew a charge with 32 seconds remaining. 

Williams followed with his career-high matching fifth triple of the night in giving Manhattan a one-point lead with just over 18 seconds to play. Unfortunately, Isaiah Washington answered with a layup with 6.8 seconds left before a pair of last-second shots for the Jaspers were unable to fall.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair that featured eight ties and six lead changes as Quinnipiac took a slim 38-37 lead into the break despite a half-high 18 points from Williams.

Young paced the Bobcats with 27 points while Jacob Rigoni added 14 points.

Manhattan shot 42.3 percent (22-of-52), including 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from deep, and 85.0 percent (17-of-20) from the line while parlaying 13 Quinnipiac miscues into a 16-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
