Riverdale, NY - Manhattan College women's basketball travels to Rider on Thursday, February 1 for the Jaspers' first meeting with the Broncs (8-13, 5-5 MAAC) this season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium in Lawrenceville, NJ.Â
Top Storylines:
- Manhattan leads the all-time series, 29-15. The Broncs have had the edge of late, winning four of the last five meetings between the two dating back to 2014-15 campaign.
- In the last meeting of the two teams, the Jaspers fell to Rider 73-64 on January 26, 2017 at Alumni Gymnasium. In the game, Kayla Grimme (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) became Manhattan's all-time blocks leader with the 149th block of her career. Grimme now has more than 200 career blocked shots.
- Amani Tatum (Cambria Heights, NY / James Madison) currently ranks 16th among Division I players in steals per game (3.05) and 18th in steals overall this season (61). She is 33rd in the country for three-point field goal percentage (42.7). She also leads the MAAC in this category, as well as in steals and steals per game. Tatum is second in the league in assists (86) and assists per game (4.3).Â
- Grimme is currently sixth in the MAAC in scoring (14.6) per game and fourth in rebounding (7.8) per game. She is first in offensive rebounding (3.3) per game and third in blocked shots (1.7) per game.Â
- Manhattan is currently third in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 62.3 points per game. The Jaspers are also third in field goal percentage (.395) this season and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.312). The Jaspers lead the MAAC in rebounding defense at 33.7 per game, and have the third-highest rebounding margin at +0.8. The team is third in steals per game (8.4) and fourth in assists per game (14.0).Â
- Currently tied for sixth place in the MAAC, Rider is fourth in the league in scoring offense at 62.9 point per game. The Broncs are fifth in field-goal percentage, sitting just behind the Jaspers at .393. They share fourth place with Manhattan for three-point field goal percentage per game at .312. Sophomore Stella Johnson is fifth in the MAAC in scoring with 14.7 points per game. Senior Kamila Hoskova is ninth with 14.2. Johnson is second only to Tatum in the league for steals per game (2.4).Â
