Riverdale, NY -
Nick Honor's running shot with 2.6 seconds to play lifted Fordham to a 57-56 win over Manhattan in the 111th Battle of the Bronx in front of a near-capacity crowd of 2,023 at Draddy Gymnasium.

The shot spoiled a fantastic night by junior Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College), who scored the final seven Jasper points, including a layup with just 25.2 seconds to play that gave Manhattan a brief one-point advantage. Paulicap would finish with a game-high 15 points while also pulling down six rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

The Rams improve to 6-1 while the Jaspers fall to 2-5.

In the opening stanza with Fordham up 18-8 at the 11:18 mark, Manhattan got to work in quickly chipping away at the lead with seven-straight points in posting an 11-2 run over the next 7:13 in making it a one-point game.

Later in the half with the Ram advantage back up to four, the Jaspers responded with six-straight points in grabbing a 27-25 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Fordham quickly reclaimed the lead and took its largest lead of the night at 40-32 with 12:47 remaining but could not shake Manhattan.

Freshman Samir Stewart (Fort Lauderdale, FL / American Heritage) quickly answered with a layup as the Jaspers started chipping at the deficit.

With the Ram advantage at 51-46 with just over five minutes to play, sophomore Ebube Ebube (San Juan, Puerto Rico / Lawrenceville Academy (NJ)) answered with a three-point play off an offensive rebound.

Fordham's would grow to 55-52 with 2:33 remaining when Paulicap split a pair at the line over the next two possessions before Ebube grabbed his 10th and final rebound of the night with 41 seconds remaining. Following a timeout, Paulicap scored off a Thomas Capuano (Sr., Hastings-on-Hudson, NY / Ione Prep) feed to the post before Honor sank the aforementioned game-winning shot.

Antwon Portley scored 14 points with seven assists in earning the Battle of the Bronx MVP while Honor chipped in with 13 points and Jalen Cobb 11.

Freshman Warren Williams (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Benedict's Prep (NJ)) scored 10 points to round out the double-figure scorers for Manhattan.
