Jaspers Travel To Brooklyn For First Road Game

Brooklyn Heights, NY - Manhattan women's basketball (1-0, 0-0 MAAC) will take on St. Francis Brooklyn (1-0, 0-0 NEC) Saturday, November 10 in the Jaspers' first road game of the 2018-19 season. 

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Pope Physical Education Center in Brooklyn Heights, NY. The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.

Last Outing
Manhattan started the season with a 61-46 win over LIU Brooklyn on November 6, with junior point guard Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) earning a career-high 28 points to lead the Jaspers. 

The Jaspers shot 33.3 percent for the game, while allowing the Blackbirds a 34 percent shooting night. Manhattan earned 28 points off turnovers, compared to LIU Brooklyn's 12. The Jaspers forced 35 TOs on the night, and committed 21. The Jaspers also won the battle in the paint, 30-22, and took a 16-6 advantage on fast break points. 

Top Performers
At point, Cajou went 9-17 from the floor against the Blackbirds, and 9-10 from the free throw line. She added five steals, four assists, three rebounds, and a block. On the boards, sophomore center Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) led the Jaspers with 10 rebounds, adding seven points and four steals. 

Coming off the bench, Lizahya Morgan (East Hartford, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet) earned a career-high six steals while also contributing eight points. 

Meet the Terriers
The Terriers picked up their first win of the season by defeating Mercy 102-51 on November 6. The 102 points are the most scored in a single-game in program history. It was Head coach Linda Cimino's first win at the helm.

Five St. Francis Brooklyn players scored in double figures for the night. As a team, the Terriers registered 29 assists and only turned the ball over 16 times. That efficiency led to 39 made field goals, 14 three-pointers, and a shooting percentage of 48.1 percent. Junior guard Jade Johnson scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field, which included going 4-of-6 from behind the arc. She pulled down six rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

Last Meeting
The Jaspers earned their first win of the 2017-18 season against St. Francis Brooklyn at home on November 18, 2017, winning the game 57-54 on a three from Cajou in the final seconds of regulation. Former Jasper Kayla Grimme also posted a 12-point, six-rebound fourth quarter to help Manhattan overcome a 10-point third-quarter deficit.

Series History
This will be the 19th meeting between the Jaspers and the Terriers. Manhattan leads the all-time series 17-1, including 17 straight wins, the team's longest active-winning streak against any opponent.
